Prevention

The Adolescent Prevention program is based on the premise that early intervention may prevent more serious social adjustment problems. Our program aims to prevent substance abuse, substance related disorders, and other behavioral problems that place families and children at risk. The prevention setting is at community sites.

Prevention activities include

Open ended prevention and education groups focusing on cognitive restructuring
Prevention/intervention services for juvenile offenders
Referral for additional services may occur

Admission Criteria

Adolescents 12 - 17 years old
Resident of Hamilton County, Ohio
Exhibit symptoms of alcohol and/or drug abuse or risk for substance abuse
Exhibit emotional and/or psychological problems in relation to a family member's chemical abuse
Experiencing school performance problems
Experiencing legal problems and aggressive behavior
